IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, And Cybernetics Best Student Paper Award (established in 1998)

 

Description:                 To recognize the best student paper published and presented at the IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics. The purpose of this award is to stimulate students to submit outstanding papers to the conference.

 

Prize:                           $500 and Plaque for the finalist; if multiple authors, the prize will be split equally and each author will receive a plaque. All semi-finalists receive a ticket to attend the awards banquet at the conference.

 

Funding:                      Funded by the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society who provide the Student Activities Committee with an annual budget for activities involving students at the annual conference.

The special student papers session

On Monday October 8, 2007 from 4:55pm to 6:35pm in the room St. Laurent. All five best student paper award semi-finalists will present in this session, which is open to all audience (these papers will be presented in their regular session as well). The panel of judges will attend this session, and will evaluate the papers only in this special session.

The presentation schedule is as follows:

"The Integration of a Multiple Criteria Preference Ranking Approach for Conflict Resolution" presented by Yi Ke, 4:55pm to 5:15pm.

"Needle Control along Desired Tracks in Robotic Prostate Brachytherapy" presented by Niki Abolhassani, 5:15pm to 5:35pm.

"Strategic Analysis of the Kyoto Protocol" presented by Sean Walker, 5:35pm to 5:55pm.

"A Framework for Modeling Communication Among Decentralized Supervisors for Discrete-Event Systems" presented by Amin Mannani, 5:55pm to 6:15pm.

"Estimation of Visual Axis during Sleep by Analyzing Infrared Video using Artificial Neural Network" presented by Yuji Yahata, 6:15pm to 6:35pm.
